Classical Astrologers

Classical Astrologers are like the founding fathers of modern astrology. From Galileo to Johannes Kepler and more, read why they're still honoured today and view their natal charts.

  • William Lilly (1602-1681)

    William Lilly

William Lilly is perhaps best remembered as the author of the classic astrology text Christian Astrology. His name stands out in the surge of astrological writings in 17th century England. He published his own almanac annually and predicted many dramatic events.

  • Galileo as Astrologer (1564-1642)

    Galileo Galilei

Galileo practised astrology in a matter-of-fact way. He was a heliocentric astronomer/astrologer – a radically new thing among 17th century Mathematici. He didn't re-evaluate astrology, as his contemporary Kepler did, but interpreted horoscopes to advise his patrons.

  • Johannes Kepler (1571-1630)

    Johannes Kepler

Throughout his troubled life, Kepler sought a Pythagorean unity between Astronomy and Astrology. He invented three new astrological aspects, along with his three laws of planetary motion. These were part of his quest for the Harmonices Mundi, his magnum opus.

  • Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1727)

    Sir Isaac Newton

Sir Isaac Newton is best known as one of the greatest scientists there has ever been. However, other than rumour, there is no record of him having a specific interest in astrology. Nevertheless, Newton was an avid student of alchemy and theology.
